2024 Regional Summit Highlights

HTAV took their professional learning on the road to the beauty that is autumn in Beechworth!

We were welcomed by the glorious autumn colours, friendly locals and our special hosts of the History Teachers’ Regional Summit – Indigo Shire Council.

With over fifteen highly rated professional learning workshops to choose from, History teachers came along to share in an unique and enriching learning experience. It was fabulous to witness regional teachers building new connections and our metropolitan teachers expanding their professional networks whilst participating in new experiences.

We thank our regional and metropolitan History community for coming together in the north-eastern region of Victoria for an immersion in History across three days.

Summit Day One: Friday 26 April

We kicked off the Summit at Beechworth Secondary College.

Summit Day Two: Saturday 27 April

Conference day with workshops held in historical locations including the Courthouse and Town Hall.

What teachers said about the Summit:

'What a great conference! May well have kept me in teaching for a little bit longer.'

'There was such a wonderful range of activities over the weekend. Great chance to not only learn, but explore, to be scared and to catch up and meet wonderful new teachers. Thanks you for the opportunity to be part of such a wonderful event.'

Thank you to our partner – Indigo Shire Council and the exhibitors for supporting the History teachers with products, services and prizes.

Pre-dinner drinks were kindly hosted by Indigo Shire Council and held in the Burke Museum – Street of Shops. We were treated to some of Beechworth’s fabulous local produce and wines from the King Valley region.

Summit dinner where the conversations continued.
Some went on to the Mayday Hills Asylum Ghost tour.

Summit Day Two: Sunday 28 April
