7 Aug 24

The awards of the History Teachers’ Association of Victoria (HTAV) recognise excellence in History teaching and contributions to the profession and the Association. The highest level of achievement in these areas is recognised by the Colin Pearce Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Teaching and Learning of History and to the History Teachers’ Association of Victoria.

At the HTAV Annual Conference last week, HTAV President Elisa Litvin presented the Colin Pearce Award to:

Ian Lyell
Mentone Girls' Grammar

HTAV President Elisa Litvin with Ian Lyell

It was a great pleasure to celebrate and acknowledge Ian for his long-standing membership, support for History educators and work with HTAV. Ian has shared his expertise and knowledge with History teachers for many years. His generosity, goodwill and unwavering support have been invaluable to the community. Ian’s own teaching practice and his commitment to resource sharing, mentoring and delivering professional learning combined to make him a worthy recipient of this award.

Ian has also played a role in HTAV’s governance and operations, and has been an author for Agora and HTAV Publications in Revolutions. Ian’s dedication to supporting History teachers and helping them flourish is remarkable.

On behalf of all of the HTAV community we congratulate and thank Ian for all his outstanding contributions!
