Notes for Reviewers

To reach a wide audience, reviews will be published online in the open access section of the website. Selected books are available for review – have a look at the book list and contact us to request your complimentary review copy. If you have found something else you’d like to review, please consider its suitability for history teachers – its relevance to the curriculum or for teacher professional development, and appropriate year levels for its use – as well as its merits as a whole.

Your review should be about 500 words long. Give a brief summary of the overall content and then focus on specific aspects, discussing the quality and usefulness of the written content and the images/illustrations. Where applicable, classroom application of the material should be stated. Reviewers are expected to comment on the strengths and limitations of the title while maintaining a courteous tone at all times. They should cite specific examples from the work and comment on the merits of the work as a whole.

Please avoid reviewing items if you have close links with the author or publisher.

We acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Australians and Traditional Custodians of the lands where we live, learn and work. The HTAV Office is located on the lands of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. These lands were never ceded. We pay our respect to their ancestors and Elders, past and present.

Please note: Members of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities should be aware that the HTAV website may include images or names of people now deceased.
